Hyena longs to become a ballerina, but will her dreams come true?

Usborne Phonics Readers have been created in consultation with a language expert, taking into account the latest research on the most effective ways of teaching reading.

Children who are learning to read will benefit from the high interest phonics-based text and story which has been specially written to help children learn to read.

Children who have just learned to read can enjoy the lively stories with very little guidance from an adult, gaining the experience and enthusiasm they need to become fully confident readers.

A lively story with irresistible illustrations, this book is a delight to share. The simple rhyming text is a great way to develop essential language and early reading skills, and there are guidance notes for parents at the back of the book.

The original Easy Words to Read series included 12 titles. As these go out of print they are being replaced with additional titles which do not include the Cartwright duck or flaps. The earlier books are now called the Phonics Reader with Flaps series and the later books simply called the Phonics Reader Series.

Reviews
We love Hyena Ballerina! Hyena Ballerina is a cute book about a hyena who loves to dance! Although she is rejected from the first dance school that she auditions for, she doesn't give up and in the end she finds her place to shine! We love the rhyming text and the great message to keep trying and believe in yourself despite the exclusion or criticism of others.

This is a very sweet book! I read this book, first and it is an amazing little story for any young reader! Learning that they don't have to be the same as others!

New Favorite This book has beautiful illustrations and teaches the message about how it is okay to be different. In fact, it might be even better to not fit the stereotype. This could further help lead to discussions with being comfortable with your own body and self image. Great story with multiple underlying messages that will help empower and motivate young readers.
