Thanks to a magical compass, Olly finds himself on a glacier. Bear Grylls, his guide, is waiting. The only way home is to trek across frozen lakes and through deep snow drifts - and there's a blizzard coming… Can Olly meet the challenge?
So Fun !! These are going to be great for kids who love magic treehouse! It has the magical transportation element like with the treehouse as well as great real world factual knowledge.
I learned a bunch from one chapter! After reading just one chapter, I decided I want the whole series not just for the kids - but to read WITH them! Magical transportation to a snowy mountain, being taught what to wear for the elements, what to do and not do in that harsh climate…all within an exciting novel! Highly recommend for ANYONE!
Fun and exciting! I read the book in one sitting and thought it was great. The young boy and Bear have to overcome extreme obstacles, and he mentions several times that one wrong choice could mean death. In that way it might be a bit intense for some children, but I know my nephews would love it.
Amazing Series for Independent Readers or Read Aloud This series is absolutely wonderful!! It's exciting, informative with survival skills sprinkled throughout the story, and makes you excited to keep reading to find out what happens next. My 6yo daughter loves these books and I do too!! I hope Bear writes more like this!
Each book does slightly tie in with the previous book, but we accidentally read the last book in the series first and it didn't make a difference. Every book works well on it's own. The Blizzard one should be first if you want to be sure to read them in the correct order:
Blizzard, Dessert, Jungle, Sea.
Very exciting series! This is such a fun series! I love that these books leave you wanting more! They really are hard to put down. My son (age 10) and daughter (age 13), both love this series. Another great thing is how each book incorporates life skills and tips for surviving different situations and helps kids change their attitudes in each book!
