Logic puzzles with a grid format. In this safari your students will be hunting down clues which they can piece together to solve a deductive logic puzzle. Logic Safari gives students the opportunity to sort through related bits of information by combining, relating, ordering, and eliminating. The result is the logical linking together of ideas that leads to the puzzle's solution.

Students love these deductive logic puzzles so much that they beg to do them, little realizing that they are building important reading comprehension and thinking skills. This safari will send students on an expedition that will result in hours of good thinking and unbridled enthusiasm. As enthusiasm soars, so do the levels of thinking skills engaged.

Teachers love these puzzles because of their ease in which they can tie them into different curriculum areas and their effortlessness in fitting into pullout programs of limited duration.

Parents love these puzzles because their children build essential thinking skills and improve reading comprehension while having fun solving puzzles. The type of reading comprehension used in completing these puzzles is the same as that needed for standardized testing. Every word matters. In addition the puzzles are self-correcting. If your child makes an error the puzzle won't work out. This both rewards them for slowing down and taking care and encourages them to check their work to avoid errors.

Each motivating puzzle includes:

  • The introduction - this paragraph sets the background and helps students become familiar with the elements of the puzzles.
  • The clues - the clues relate all the components and provide a basis for the logical linking together of the pieces of information. thereby allowing students to make deductions that will lead to the solution.
  • The grid - the grid provides a worksheet for sorting, eliminating, and associating the clues. Every square on the grid represents a possible answer. By eliminating possibilities, one is left with only one choice per row or column. When this is done for every row and column the puzzle is complete.
