This website began as a collection of resources which could be used to teach children thinking skills - skills like reasoning by analogy, logic, sequencing, matrix reasoning and more.

Building Thinking Skills

Children who can make connections and understand their own thinking processes learn faster and retain more. That's why these very same skills are the ones needed to do well in cognitive ability and IQ testing. Customers sought more focused help in providing their children with the opportunities to perform their best when tested and in response we added information about tests together with our suggestions.

What makes our selection of products different is that we understand gifted children. We were gifted children. We have gifted children (who were accepted into gifted and talented programs). We know that your child is reading above grade level and taking advanced math classes. We know that a book designed for average children the same age as your child will be too easy. You can read more about us here.

We're also different because our children were twice exceptional (2E). We know what it is like to have a brilliant child getting 50% on some types of tests and 99% on others and a teacher who tells you that they just need to try harder. We can't match the type of help you'll get from specialized therapists and tutors but we have resources that you can use alongside those programs at home to work on problem areas.

If you've got a smart child who loves learning enjoy browsing. We've got what your child wants. Selecting the right level and types of products can be difficult particularly with gifted children who may be working at very different levels in different subject areas. Print out sample pages and let your child try the problems. If you need help in narrowing your search to the most appropriate products please phone or e-mail with some information about your child (for example, age, grade, reading level, math level etc) and your interest (for example, improve reading, prepare for CogAT, visual processing resources, etc.) and we'll help .

If your child is being considered for entry to a gifted or honors program ( GATE) and is going to be tested using a group multiple choice test like the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT), Otis-Lennon School Abilities Test (OLSAT) or Naglieri Non-Verbal Ability Test (NNAT) or a full IQ test like the Stanford-Binet (S-B5), Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-IV) or Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI) you've come to the right place. Browse the links provided for more information about the tests and suggestions as to what you can do to ensure that your child performs their best. Practice or sample questions are provided where available but many of these tests are protected and limited information is available to the public.

Perhaps you're a parent looking to provide your child with the missing link in their education. Perhaps you are a homeschooler who recognizes the importance of fundamentals. Perhaps you have a gifted child and you're looking for test preparation material. Perhaps you are a teacher looking for classroom extension work. Whatever your reason for finding yourself here we encourage you to browse the material offered and choose something that your child would enjoy doing. Choose something at a level which will challenge without frustrating and you really can't go wrong.
