Our suggestions here recognize that 2-3 year children are often tested to identify whether or not they are gifted. Parents don't usually make the effort to seek out testing unless they have reason to believe that their child is cognitively advanced. We've assumed here that you've got a highly capable young child.

The BambinoLUK system is an excellent choice for a young child. So long as your child is physically ready to manipulative the pieces they can work independently on the activities. Static and animated demonstrations of how the system works can be found in the LUK area of our website. The SpecialLUK Primary is specially designed for very young children to introduce them to the system.

Your able two year old may well be able to tackle some of the topics in the Pre K book bundle. Be careful if your child still mouths paper as these are books. Have a look at some of the sample pages (click on "more info" for the title you're interested in and you can view tables of contents and sample pages.) Building Thinking Skills Beginning, Mathematical Reasoning Beginning 1 and Visual Perceptual Skill Building are good places to start.

Your able three year old should be ready to tackle any of the products listed here. We recommend the bundles because of the breadth of the WPPSI but the most applicable individual titles are also listed below and other titles from the bundles are available for individual purchase (click on the bundle for links to individual products). Young children learn through play which is why we've included the manipulative block set in our recommendations below.

Don't expect your child to be ready to write answers to all the questions or to be able to read problems independently. What's important is the thinking that goes into finding the solution. Read to them, scribe for them and discuss with them as necessary. Have fun.
